The PERKA MODEL 5400 is a derivative of the Model 5000. The main difference being is that it has a tapered type of “scissor” truss for the roof rafter as opposed to the stouter parallel “joist” truss. Always as effective strong and meeting whatever code loads they are designed to, the Model 5400 will offer a “smaller” structural look and presence, yielding to lower eave heights but more open vaulted ceiling like head room! Typically this make it a more practical choice for heated unfinished open buildings like riding arenas, warehouses not needing as much height, schools, churches, halls not requiring as much Cathedral height effect yet still wanting an open ceiling feel and look.
Another advantage feature to this model is the ability to get higher roof pitches while maintaining a minimized though still architecturally pleasing open web truss joist that can be left exposed and painted for aesthetic or interior design décor purposes.
With Perka’s in house Engineering and design team, you can modify and customize this frame to meet almost ANY situation or specifications.
Perka’s unique pre-punched, pre-welded clip flush in between the columns offers the builder/DIY an easy way to apply wall strapping that can finish BOTH outside and inside walls without having to build “another building”, like you would have to do with most ALL STEEL rigid frame type applications.
The flat parallel bottom cord can also allow you the opportunity to add bottom cord clips to attach strapping to create a straight ceiling with upper attic type space to run. Since the bays are typically spaced 10’ to 18’ apart it still allows for plenty of unobstructed space above in between each main frame.
It also lends much easier to parapet or mansard type facades for store or business front accents and signage. It’s a bit pricier than most of the other models but it lends to many features that make it even easier for creative interior finishing that sometimes makes it worth paying a little more for the steel frame.
Often used for arenas, warehouses, showrooms, commercial/industrial establishments and even office, church, school, gym or residential purposes, the Perka Model 5400 offers again much versatility along with its leaner, durable and very structurally sleek appeal.
